WEB 2.0 ENGLISH

Where does the Web 2.0 English fall on Kachru's circles? How does the concept of World Englishes relate to the use of Web 2.0 for English teaching purposes?

In terms of the concept of World Englishes in relation to Web 2.0 tools, I support Pegrum (2009) in that Web 2.0 environment is quite rich in terms of cultural and linguistic content and it encompasses a great amount of diversity between and within varieties of English, which also pinpoints the importance of multiliteracy and multilinguism.

  2. Good question Sinem. The articles also mention a "third place". What does that third place refer to? How do you think it is related to the concept of "multiliteracy"? Is the English language used in Web 2.0 any different that regular English?
